Maureen Pettit - choreographer & dancer
"HEART BEATS & RHYTHM"
A SHOW WITH A DIFFERENCE!
Born in Scotland, Maureen began dancing at 6 years & by the time she was 15, had become a fully accredited teacher of classical ballet with the Royal Academy of Dancing, London and also a qualified teacher of ballroom dance with the International Society of Teachers of Dancing.

She then went on to complete a degree in dance education at London University while professionally dancing with the Rambert Ballet Company.

She has performed in musicals, Brigadoon, Carousel, Paint Your Wagon, Lilac Time, The Chocolate Soldier, Fiddler on the Roof, 42nd Street, Seven brides for Seven Brothers & many others.  Touring with companies has taken her to every capital of Europe.  She has also worked with such popular singers in Britain as Lonnie Donegan, Cliff Richards and Petula Clark.

Maureen was dancing with the "Folies Bergere" in Paris when she met her
husband and came to the USA.  She ran a dance studio in Seattle, Washington
for many years; became involved with Scottish Country Dancing & International
folk dancing, as well as clogging, tap and hula, all of which she continues to
pursue today.

Retiring to Arizona, Maureen has been instrumental in forming, and is
choreographer for "HEART BEATS & RHYTHM", a variety show featuring song,
dance & comedy.  The group is extremely busy performing as many as
30 shows during a season.

Maureen's proudest moments are when she has the opportunity to have her daughter, Lorna, dance with the group as a guest performer.  Lorna, who is teacher of dance herself and a beautiful dancer, has accompanied the group to Europe on most occasions when they have represented the USA at dance festivals.  And it appears that her granddaughter, Samantha, is following in the footsteps of her mother & grandmother in becoming an accomplished dancer.
